English Skills for 10,000 Indonesian Youths

Challenge

Millions of children in Indonesia are out of school. The children at the highest risk of being left behind are those who face barriers linked to poverty, diversity politics, gender, disability, armed conflict and displacement. Poor access to quality education entrenches cycles of inequality by preventing disadvantaged children from attaining the skills to change their economic situation.

Solution

We are creating systems and technologies which engage students and develop their skills but can be accessed for free on low-end technology. We leverage the ubiquity of smartphones, the increase in penetration of game mechanics, social networks, and incentives to improve learning motivation. After we provide access to education for these young people, we help them increase their income prospects by directing them to our BPO platform so they can get an internship or employment opportunities.

Long-Term Impact

Our future generations will have equal access to economic knowledge and they will attain critical and technical skills and confidence in their ability to learn, adapt to changes and solve problems. At least a thousand Indonesian out-of-school young people will directly benefit from our project.
