At the Digital Leadership Webinar Summit 2025, Janine Teo, CEO of Solve Education! and co-founder of New In Asia, delivered an inspiring “Learning and Development 2.0” session under the theme “Digital Innovation & Emerging Technologies.” With her unique blend of personal anecdotes, industry insights, and passion for equity in education, Janine explored how digital tools and innovative approaches reshape the future of learning and development.
How Digital Tools Are Redefining Learning and Development in a Tech-Driven World
Janine began her session with a personal story about her early career days in Paris, navigating a foreign city with paper metro tickets—something she had never encountered before. She contrasted this with Singapore’s rapid adoption of “tap-and-go” technology, delivering a key insight: “The more advanced you are, the harder it is to unlearn.” This set the stage for her exploration of how unlearning and relearning have become critical skills in today’s fast-paced digital landscape for digital learning and development.
She highlighted the importance of embracing digital transformation, not as a challenge but as an opportunity. Emerging technologies like AI, gamification, and microlearning are revolutionizing digital learning and development, changing how individuals and organizations approach education. Yet, Janine acknowledged a critical paradox: while many people feel overwhelmed by new technologies, these tools can simplify and accelerate the learning process.
Janine shared how Solve Education! is at the forefront of this transformation, using AI-driven platforms and gamified learning to empower marginalized communities. Their flagship product, Edbot.ai, offers personalized learning paths and real-time feedback, enabling learners to address their individual needs. To date, Solve Education! has reached over 1 million learners and delivered more than 25 million lessons, impacting global education and digital learning.
The Power of AI in Closing Skill Gaps and Empowering Global Communities
Janine walked attendees through the evolution of corporate learning—from early e-learning systems with low retention rates to today’s AI-driven platforms that personalize learning experiences for each individual. She described how AI coaches and virtual mentors can guide learners along their unique paths in digital learning and development, making education more accessible and practical.
This approach is incredibly impactful for marginalized communities, where access to quality education is often limited. By leveraging technology, Solve Education! provides foundational literacy and numeracy skills and fosters critical workforce skills. “EdTech is the bridge to a more equitable and skilled global workforce,” Janine stated, emphasizing that technology can democratize access to learning opportunities.
Janine also shared a thought-provoking takeaway: “If we are ahead of the curve today, it doesn’t mean we will be ahead in five years. Those starting with a blank canvas can run faster than those burdened with unlearning outdated systems.” This optimistic perspective encouraged attendees to embrace change, no matter their starting point.
Why Lifelong Learning Is Key to Thriving in the Age of Digital Transformation
Janine concluded her session with a call to action for leaders. She stressed the importance of fostering a culture of continuous learning within organizations, where employees feel empowered to take ownership of their professional development. Reflecting on her career, she noted that traditional assigned learning modules often disengage employees. Instead, personalized and self-driven learning opportunities can ignite a genuine passion for growth in digital learning and development.
Janine urged leaders to leverage technology to upskill their teams and inspire them. She highlighted the immense potential of AI to transform learning into a collaborative, immersive, and scalable experience. At one point in her talk, she shared a thought-provoking insight: “The illiterate of the 21st century are not those who cannot read or write, but those who cannot learn, unlearn, and relearn.”
