When more than 200 students from Malaysia, India, and Singapore gathered online on May 8th, 2025, for the kickoff of the “Empowering Minds with Micron” program, something bigger than a webinar took place. Powered by Micron Foundation, it was the beginning of a cross-border educational journey, fueled by innovation and a shared commitment to STEM and AI literacy for all.

This initiative, a collaboration between Micron and Solve Education!, is more than a training program. It’s a call to action for global partners, educators, and changemakers to work together to close the opportunity gap through accessible digital learning. The kickoff event marked the start of an ambitious year-long project set to reach over 2,000 youth and adults across three countries with free, gamified education via edbot.ai and expert-led webinars.

Innovating With GAIN

What makes “Empowering Minds with Micron” stand out isn’t just its reach; it’s how we innovate through the GAIN framework:

  • Gamification: Through Edbot.ai, learners complete AI and STEM courses by playing. This playful learning not only keeps engagement high but also helps them absorb complex concepts in a relatable way. It’s fun, it’s measurable, and most importantly, it’s effective.
  • AI Coaching: Our learners are never alone. Edbot.ai’s adaptive AI tailors each student’s path based on their performance and pace, providing just-in-time guidance. It mimics the presence of a personal coach, available 24/7, regardless of where the learner is based or what device they use.
  • Incentives: Learners earn points by completing modules, which they can redeem for workshops, internet data, and other tangible rewards. These incentives bridge the gap between motivation and access, especially for underserved learners who may lack even basic resources.
  • Network: Micron’s volunteer mentors bring real-world relevance into the virtual classroom. Across regions, they guide learners through problem-solving exercises and expose them to AI’s practical role in their own careers. This peer-industry connection lays the groundwork for meaningful career aspirations.

Featured Webinar: Understanding AI

The first webinar, titled “Understanding AI: What It Is and Why It Matters,” was presented by Cher Whee Sim, VP of People Strategy, Technology & Talent Acquisition at Micron. Over 200 participants explored the fundamentals of AI and its transformative role in shaping industries.

One participant, Lineyssha Karupiah from SMK Jalan Bukit in Malaysia, shared, “I really loved the way everything was explained during the webinar. I learned so much, and it definitely boosted my interest in AI and STEM!”

Cher Whee Sim’s Vision for Empowering Minds

At the kickoff event, Cher Whee Sim shared a powerful vision for the initiative’s impact beyond technology:

“We believe education and young people learning to code have become as essential as reading and writing for jobs in communities across Malaysia, India, and Singapore. STEM and AI skills aren’t just about jobs, they’re about empowering people to solve problems, create, innovate, and build a better future together.”

Cher Whee’s message is a call to action to join hands in shaping a future where education is accessible to all and innovation thrives through collective effort.

Janine Teo’s Personal Invitation and Call to Action

Janine Teo, CEO of Solve Education!, shared a personal story and an urgent message about the critical role of STEM and AI literacy today.

She emphasized the need to prepare young learners for a rapidly changing world:

“With AI transforming the future, STEM and AI literacy aren’t optional; they’re essential. This program gives you access to interactive learning, expert webinars, and mentorship to prepare for what’s ahead. But what truly makes Empowering Minds special is you, the students, mentors, and partners who bring this community to life.”

Janine’s words inspire learners and partners alike to engage deeply with the program and seize the opportunities it offers.

What Participants Can Expect

The journey includes:

  • The series of three webinars on understanding AI, using it for problem-solving, and exploring AI in future STEM careers.
  • Hands-on challenges through Edbot.ai that unlock new skills in coding, critical thinking, and digital literacy.
  • Mentorship from Micron engineers who offer career advice and demystify AI in their daily work.
  • An in-person STEM Enrichment Program in Malaysia, where selected learners will explore AI tools and applications with guidance from industry experts.

It’s designed not just to teach, but to transform. Youth from rural India, adult learners in Malaysia, and students in urban Singapore will all have access to the same high-quality resources and guidance. That’s the kind of inclusive, cross-cultural collaboration we need more of.

Thank You, Micron

With the support of Micron and their volunteers, this initiative brings learning to life in ways that are relevant, engaging, and accessible. By combining expert guidance with real-world exposure, we’re helping young people discover their potential and explore emerging opportunities in STEM and AI literacy across Malaysia, India, and Singapore.

We’re deeply thankful to Micron for being part of this journey. Together, we’re not just delivering programs, we’re creating meaningful pathways for growth, connection, and long-term impact.
