When education feels like a burden instead of a gateway, children lose their spark. That’s the challenge Rumah Belajar Abhipraya seeks to address, restoring curiosity, confidence, and the love of learning for marginalized children in South Tangerang, Indonesia. As one of the winners of the Solve For Change Grant, in collaboration with the Average Foundation, Abhipraya is proving that a joyful, life-centered learning community can transform how children see themselves and their futures.
About the Grant
The Solve! for Change Grant is a catalytic microgrant designed to fuel youth-led innovation across Asia and Africa. With funding of up to SGD 600 per team, the grant supports early-stage projects tackling urgent local problems with community-led, tech-enabled education solutions.
This year’s cycle drew over 100 applications from youth innovators across Indonesia, Malaysia, Thailand, Singapore, India, and Nigeria. Each proposal was reviewed not just for feasibility but for its ability to advance Solve Education!’s five pillars: English and Math literacy, AI and digital skills, entrepreneurship and employment readiness, financial literacy, and climate education.
The grant is more than financial support; it is a platform to amplify local voices, build capacity, and spark scalable change. Powered by Solve Education!’s GAIN framework, Gamification, AI coaching, Incentives, and Network, it proves that small grants can unlock outsized transformation.
A Learning Ecosystem Rooted in Innovation
Rumah Belajar Abhipraya was built on the belief that children learn best when education feels meaningful and connected to their lives. The program is structured around three pillars, Education, Health, and Environment, to nurture not just cognitive skills, but also confidence, social awareness, and practical life habits.
- Education sessions use creative, participatory approaches, including integration with edbot.ai for playful lessons in English and Math.
- Health classes focus on wellness and self-care, from “Move Your Body and Mind” sessions to human anatomy exploration.
- Environment workshops reconnect children with nature and local wisdom, with activities like ecoprinting and a field trip to Gintung Lake.
What makes Abhipraya innovative is not only its content, but also its process. Learning is dialogical, participatory, and rooted in equal relationships among children, facilitators, and parents. Children are treated as co-creators of their learning experiences, not passive recipients. Parents and local university students are actively involved—through parenting workshops, Saturday volunteer teaching, and joint evaluations—ensuring that learning extends beyond the classroom walls into homes and the community.
With 16 creative sessions planned between October 2025 and February 2026, Abhipraya will restore learning motivation for 100 children aged 5–12, engage 60 parents, and build a replicable model for child-centered community learning.
Recognized and Ready to Scale
Abhipraya is powered by a team of young educators and social workers who have seen firsthand how rigid, memorization-based schooling discourages children. Founder Satria Yudistira and his team, including educators, curriculum designers, and community mobilizers, are committed to reimagining education with empathy, creativity, and relevance.
The Solve For Change judges recognized the strength of this approach, noting:
- “This is a well-crafted proposal that demonstrates a deep understanding of the educational challenges in marginalized communities and presents a thoughtful, community-centered solution. The three-pillar approach is innovative, and the emphasis on joy and relevance in learning is particularly compelling.”
- “Great project and a fantastic presentation. Keep it up!”
Their reflections highlight Abhipraya’s ability to combine innovation with deep community insight, making it both compelling and replicable.
